Sarasota Opera's costume collection is one of the largest in North America, comprised of over 50,000 costumes from 135 opera productions. The productions designed for Sarasota Opera have been critically lauded and are available for rent. We also provide custom rentals from a variety of periods for use in theater and film.
Sarasota Opera's Fall season opens October 31 and features five performances of Mozart's Così fan tutte.The Costume Shop has been abuzz busily fitting and fixing for the season's mainstage production. These renderings, among others for the production, will be featured on the cover our company's Fall Program Book.
Little Women in Arkansas, Amadeus in Chicago, Cinderella in Virginia...
Our productions are all over the nation this Fall! We've been working with student designer Samuel Ofosu Danquah from the University of Arkansas to pull pieces from our 1850 La traviata and 1850 La bohèmeproductions to help create the musical version of Little Women. Meanwhile, select costumes were sent to Steppenwolf Theatre for their production of Amadeus and the La Cenerentola production is making an appearance for Cinderella in November at Virginia Opera.
Something to Celebrate!
Congrats to our very own Howard Tsvi Kaplan, Resident Costume Designer, for his nomination for Theatre Tampa Bay's 2025 Outstanding Costume Design for his Candide production for Opera Tampa. The nomination includes pieces from Sarasota Opera's La bohème, Don Pasquale, andCandideproductions. The winners will be announced November 3.
